Bring It On
This week's post is about looking at New Year differently and facing up to the challenges… whatever they may be…
“The Most Important Thing To Remember Is This: To Be Ready At Any Moment To Give Up What You Are For What You Might Become.”
W.E.B. Du Bois
As New Year approaches yet again, I’ve decided this year I’m not going to live in fear and apprehension of what’s to come, I’m going to launch into it full throttle!
Every messy inch of it… every sharp edge… every curveball… every challenge… and every last bit of it!
Because, if I’ve learnt anything over the past 18 months, it’s that life can turn on a pinpoint, but we are stronger than we can ever imagine!
We are sent things in life that test us… our resilience… our ability to withstand any weather… to battle our way through any storm, and grow with each gruelling step.
As a friend once said to me:
“We are given challenges in life when we are strong enough to face them.”
I am not the person I was five years ago – I am much more self-aware.
I am not the person I was three years ago – I am much more comfortable with who I am.
And I am not the person I was two years ago, before my cancer diagnosis. Because I have HAD to face what life has thrown my way, and because of this I am a newer, stronger, more resilient and more determined person.
I never would have known what I could withstand unless I was given the opportunity to go up against it – to stand in the ring under the hot and blinding lights and go toe to toe with it.
I got to look at my life through the eyes of wonder and gratitude…
I learnt to appreciate the fragility of life…
I was given the chance to view the opportunities being presented before me…
I was offered a dose of determination and a dollop of humility…
And I was graced with the beauty of appreciation for the people I have in my life, those who are in my corner - like my very own combat sports cutsmen, picking me up and fixing my wounds.
And I know amongst all of the trials and tribulations that appear before us as we roam and evolve through this coming year, there will undoubtedly be some beautiful, special, positive and heart-warming moments in there too.
So, instead of focusing on the ‘bad’, I’m looking forward to the GOOD!
Because I’ve got this! We’ve got this!!
No matter what comes our way, we can face it, together, right beside each other…
So, 2025… Bring It On!!
Take care and much love,
Julie x
