Permission Slip
Whatever you need right now, I'm inviting you to grant yourself your own permission slip...
“Give Yourself Permission To Slow Down Today. Rest And Reflection Are Key To Productivity And Growth.”
Michelle Maros
So, I’ve been a little quiet here lately… missed my last (self-inflicted) deadline… haven’t drafted new posts…
And no real reason other than I haven’t had capacity…
The mental capacity to formulate thoughts and articulate them into words…
The emotional capacity to reach deep, identify and exhume my thoughts and feelings…
Sometimes we just don’t have the capacity…
We are pulled and stretched by life, demands, situations, experiences and deadlines that leave us with nothing left to give.
And yet we still keep pushing and giving and showing up in every way we can.
This is my happy place!
I LOVE to write and share posts on here with you, so when I’m unable to write, I know I have reached a point where I’m running on emergency reserves!
And in all honesty, I find it really hard to step back for a minute…
Take what you need
How do we take what we need without feeling guilt, or shame, or like we’ve let other people down?…
Perhaps we need to be our own accountability partners…
Our own ally…
Our own cheerleaders and advocates…
When the voice of self-criticism chimes in, chastising you for delaying a project, for dialling down your productivity or taking a break, welcome in your self-compassion - The one who will fight your corner to protect you, and allow you to take what you need…
Imagine what a supportive friend would tell you in this situation, and allow this to come through your voice of self-compassion.
Sometimes, the only expectations are the ones we put upon ourselves.
I wanted to share this short post with you, in my hiatus, because maybe I’m not the only one, maybe you need to hear this too right now:
“Permission Granted”
What is it you need right now?
What’s going to be in your best interests?
And grant yourself permission to take it 💗
Take care and much love,
Julie x

I said no to 2 weddings this year that would have required me to travel for 20-30 hours by plane. I found this so hard because I want to be there for my friends, but also because I’m healthy and alive, I wanted to say yes to everything. My mom passed away when she was 49 and I was 13, and not being able to do things was the norm. Now I need to unlearn this to be able to slow down and actually enjoy my life!
